Family Portrait Time!

The COVID-19 shutdowns require cautious interactions with other-than family members or people you work with every day. Since the “big department store” portrait studios are closed due to the virus, a friend reached out to me to let me know that a local family needed family portraits done.

The request was for the portraits to be done in their home so there would be minimal interaction with crowds, which is an easy accommodation to make during these unprecedented times*.

Shooting in a family’s residence offers particular challenges, the greatest of which is that living rooms are not studios. As a former cinematographer and videographer as well as still photographer, adapting to the location is something I have done all my career. Now, though I do portraits as a hobby, I haven’t forgotten everything I learned over the years!

The result was a beautiful set of portraits of this lovely family from Wellington who graciously allowed me to post a few images from their photo session here.

*Cannot wait until I never hear this phrase again! 🙂
